William Donald Cox (June 23, 1913 – February 16, 1988) was an American politician and professional baseball pitcher. Cox was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 20, 1941, with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He co-authored the books Jimi Hendrix Sessions and Ultimate Hendrix with John McDermott and Eddie Kramer. I read that Dodgers decided to trade Dixie Walker due to his attitude about playing and in the same clubhouse as Jackie Robinson. He then played two years at shortstop for the Pirates before coming to the Dodgers for the 1948 season.When Cox got his first job as a professional with Harrisburg, his friends in Newport took up a collection to buy him clothing.Cox played with the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1948 to 1954. The other difficulty in playing third base is the ability to throw, swiftly and accurately, to first base. That entire team should be in The Hall of Fame.
