Saw my first moose here. The main attraction of East Canyon State Park is the 684-acre East Canyon Reservoir. But the only wildlife I saw was a chipmunk, squirrels, birds, butterflies, and a moose (!).

... East Canyon may not be a place you fall in love with, but it is a place you can settle for. The scenery was beautiful and the sound of Parley’s Creek almost drowned out the sound of the highway. To get to the trailhead: From downtown San Luis Obispo, take Highway 101 north for approximately two miles to Reservoir Canyon Road (an easy-to-miss road connecting to the freeway).
It's fine. East Canyon Trail is a 4.1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Salt Lake City, Utah that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The grass was very high along most of the narrow trail, which made me concerned about snakes. The trail runs along the east side of Cull Canyon Reservoir, then heads north for six miles through East Bay Municipal Utility District property to EBMUD's Chabot Staging Area on Redwood Road (an EBMUD hiking permit is required for this section, phone 287-0459). Cutthroat Trout with a purple spoon about 30-40 ft down. Not very many people on the trail and prettier setting than the city but nothing noteworthy to see. Not much shade in the morning and overgrown in a few spots.Not a lot of shade, no clear ending, and some plants grow on the trial. East Canyon State Park is located in the mountains northeast of Salt Lake City. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until November.Not a bad trail for an easier trail run. Current Conditions. The kids enjoyed throwing snowballs at each other and being out in the sunshine on this winter day.Easy and gradual climb to the junction of the Sheep Trail.
